ID Cooling FROZN A620 Pro SE Review

ID Cooling FROZN A620 Pro SE Review

ID Cooling has been disrupting the Pakistani market with its incredibly well valued CPU coolers both in Air and liquid CPU cooler categories. When it comes to budget air coolers there’s a lot of chaos in the market with many different options from different manufacturers but one stands out from the masses and that is ID Cooling. With their unique design philosophy and never ending innovation, they always manage to impress me.

Today however I am going to put one of the ID Cooling’s flagship air coolers to its limits and see if all that is advertised is true or not. We have our hands on ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE. The cooler costs 12,500/- PKR and is available across the country. You can buy ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE in Pakistan from TechMatched.pk. Let’s get started with our review!

Overview

Frozn A620 Pro SE is a dual tower CPU Air cooler. With 6 heat pipes and 2 fans, it is supposed to handle most of the high end CPU’s with ease, which we will look at in a short bit. Cooler comes at a competitive price of Rs. 12.5k at most retailers, and can be found for slightly cheaper in sales often. Buy ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE at best price in Pakistan. Frozn A620 Pro SE is a revision/successor of the fairly popular A620 released earlier.

Test System

Before getting in to the review itself let’s see what our test system will consist of:

Box Contents

Within the box we can find the cooler itself with two of its massive heatsinks. 2x 120mm fans are included. ID Cooling’s signature thermal paste, Frost X25 is also included with enough paste in syringe for two applications. Mounting brackets for AMD and Intel along with a back plate is also present. What lacks is the inclusion of a screw driver. Earlier models of high end coolers from ID COoling had philips head screw drivers within the box but this time it’s missing, so keep a long phillips head screwdriver with you while installing.

Build Quality

Build quality is fairly important in air coolers. ID Cooling’s Frozn lineup has historically proven its grounds with exceptional build quality and I can say this time too, Frozn A620 Pro SE has proven that it has impressed me. The fin stack although not too dense but the metal concentration is certainly better than its competitors in its price bracket. The overall finishing is fine and it feels like a sturdy piece of metal. Fans are also quite well built and plastic is of high quality. Both heatsinks have a top plastic cover for aesthetics which does give out a blacked out decent look to the cooler when installed.

Mounting

ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE has support for AMD and Intel’s latest sockets including LGA 1700, AM5 and AM4. As mentioned earlier the mounting brackets come within the box. A backplate for Intel is included while the cooler utilizes AMDs own bracket that comes with the motherboard which is removable on AM4 unlike AM5. So if you’re going to use this cooler on AM4, make sure that you have saved the original back plate that came with the motherboard. Mounting mechanism is quite easy, on both platforms. Brackets screw into the backplate with the included screws and standoffs, and cooler heatsink than is securely screwed into the brackets with 1 screw to each bracket. Ram clearance is pretty fair but with normal RGB rams, one will have to move the front fan a little outwards which is kind of alright as the fans are mounted with clips which can be removed and remounted easily.

Testing Methodology

Our testbench will be based on an open air setup with a cooler securely mounted and using ID Cooling Frost X25 thermal paste included in the box of the cooler itself. Benchmarks used are V-Ray, Cinebench 2024 and Furmark CPU burner test. Each test is done for 10mins on each software. The Intel i7 13700KF can use around 250 watts of power on stock settings. We have tested the cooler at 3 more settings to simulate lighter workloads, and those include limiting PL1 and PL2 to 200, 175, and 150 watts. Lowering the power limits simulates real world scenarios such as gaming where CPU is not always at 100%. The ambient temperature is set to 25℃.

Test Results

On stock PL1 is set to 180 watts and PL2 is set to 253 watts. We have increased the wait time for PL1 to 5 minutes just to make the test results more concentrated. At 250 watts, ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE is able to handle the i7 13700KF easily and keep it under 90℃ which is already very decent and well below the TJ Max of 100℃.

When limited to 200W, the temps are lowered by almost 10%. Temps are now under 80℃ and can be considered as very good actually for a cooler that just costs 12.5k PKR.

175 watts is somewhat mediocre average daily use power while gaming or even editing etc. The temps are lowered to low 70°s.

At 150 Watts, the cooler keeps the temps lower than 70℃ and in high 60°s. This means that the cooler can easily handle any processor such as 13600K or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X etc without even a flinch.

Conclusion

ID Cooling as always has priced this cooler so well that there’s nothing going against buying it. If you’re someone who wants to save some bucks on liquid cooling and use that money for maybe a better processor or more ram, be relaxed as ID Cooling Frozn A620 Pro SE has you covered. At this price point, there’s certainly no competition that I can recommend instead of this cooler. All in all it’s a great cooler for its price, although lack of ARGB might let some consumers down as they prefer that customized RGB look on their cooler, but for me personally the subtle looks of Frozn A620 Pro SE are fine. Cooler gets a YES from me if the question is if one should buy it or not.
